In-house Mental-health Talk-show

On the 19th of November 2024, we had the rare opportunity to have an In-house Mental-health Talk-show with the female personnel of the FCT Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) organized by Sustaining Continuity In Education Foundation – SCEF (an NGO registered in Nigeria). It was a great moment and much effort was made to x-ray how the mental health status of a Road Safety worker could positively or negatively impact the job. Some of the identified impacts include; 1. Presenteesm which explains a worker’s presence at work but not working at full potential. 2. Absenteesm which explains the condition of workers frequently taking time off work because they are dealing with mental health issues. Organisational structure and Relationship issues, Financial, Sociological, Biological, Emotional and Psychological factors were also highlighted as root factors. These conditions could result in; 1. Incidence and Accidents due to reduced concentration, workplace stress and anxiety, and 2. Reduced productivity. A healthy mental health awareness will enable a Road Safety worker to recognize what good and stable mental health state IS, what good and stable mental health is NOT, and how to practice what enhances good mental health in the workplace.

A summary is shown below.

The facilitators had group picture with the President of (SCEF), ACCN and the FCT Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Abuja, Nigeria.
